Challenges

The Eastern Reef region is faced with these challenges:

  • Ever increasing number of church members
  • Lack of adequate venue capacity to cater for our regional meetings i.e. Quarters, Seminars, Conventions, Rallies e.t.c.
  • Exorbitant rental costs of external facilities
  • Consolidation of regional offices into one office block to accommodate all the structures or segmants including:      DCC Mothers, Men, Sisters, Youth, Sunday School and other Sub-committe
  • Reliance on a single mode of fundraising which may not be sustabinable for the future

The Solution

Construct a state of the art modern Regional Centre facility that will address all the challenges outlined above. The Regional Centre shall take the form of a Conference or Convention Centre Business Model.

The Core Objectives of the Regional Centre are:

  • To be self sufficient, sustainable and profitable
  • To address the ongoing need of accommodating our ever-increasing membership and attendance at all group levels during Regional events such as Quarterly Meetings, Rallies, Mini Conventions, Seminars, Committee Meetings, e.t.c
  • Ever increasing number of church members
  • Lack of adequate venue capacity to cater for our regional meetings i.e. Quarters, Seminars, Conventions, Rallies e.t.c.
  • To provide the Regional office administrative capacity and facilities
  • To be a catalyst for job creation and support for small business opportunities within the Movement, in particular within the Region
  • To serve as a strategic income source for Regional activities across all segments or groups
  • To reposition the Region economically to allow it to play an influential role in the regional economy
  • To provide capacity for social responsibility ot outreach to the surrounding communities

The Location

The Committee decided that in light of the business model, the Centre be located in Midrand for the following reasons:

  • Midrand is a fast developing area and offers value for money
  • Midrand is the main business node second to Sandton
  • It is central to the Region
  • It is surrounded by a few local churches which will be used for support such as Thembisa, Sivana, Ebony, Phomolong, Alex, Ivory, Diepsloot.

The Facility
  • 10 Conference Rooms and Board-rooms with the capacity to accommodate a range of 10 to 300 people.
  • An Auditorium with the capacity to seat at least 5000 people
  • A Reception block
  • Canteen Facility (Kitchen / Dining)
  • Decent dometries / accommodation facility to accommodate a minimum of 500 people

All the rooms, kitchen and the auditorium to be equipped with the state of the art communication system and conferencing equipment.
